Lively Discussion on the Topic of Aluminum
Aluminum took center stage at GIFA Indonesia 2026 – and ABP Induction was right in the thick of it. No surprise: Given the rapid growth of Indonesia’s aluminum industry, demand for efficient, sustainable and future‑ready melting technologies is rising. Together with METEC Indonesia, Mining Indonesia, and the specially established Aluminum Pavilion, GIFA Indonesia provided an important platform for discussing how the industry can combine growth with decarbonization and greater energy efficiency.
For ABP Induction, this is precisely the area where induction technology can make a decisive contribution. In secondary aluminum production in particular, the transition from conventional gas-fired furnaces to induction melting technology offers substantial potential. ABP solutions can reduce CO₂ emissions by up to 94 percent compared with gas‑fired systems, while also achieving greater energy efficiency and minimizing material losses. With its induction technology, ABP addresses both the environmental and economic challenges faced by aluminum producers. There is another important advantage: flexibility. ABP induction furnaces can function as energy storage systems, allowing production to be better aligned with the availability and prices of electricity. This is becoming increasingly important as renewable energy plays an ever-greater role in industrial production And ABP is already looking ahead to the next generation of aluminum processing. The engineers are developing new furnace concepts for large‑scale applications such as “Giga Casting” – combining more than a century of experience in induction technology with the requirements of tomorrow’s aluminum industry.
